Private markets have grown faster than the systems that account for them. Speaking to The Fintech Times after LemonEdge's $21 million Series A, CEO David T. O'Malley sets out why that gap opened and what closing it actually takes.
His account is unsentimental. The technology was built for a simpler market and then patched. As the industry changed, firms added spreadsheets and manual processes around their core accounting platforms until the workarounds became the operating model. With global private market AUM forecast to reach $26.7 trillion by 2030, that is no longer a tolerable cost of doing business.
On AI, O'Malley puts data first. Clean, structured, governed data is what makes intelligence possible. Without it, AI approximates. He is equally direct on adoption: the year ahead is about AI, broader asset class coverage and faster onboarding, and education carries as much weight as the product.
