Role Overview
We are hiring a Financial Controller to act as the right hand to the Global Head of Finance & SVP, owning the day-to-day financial operations of the business across the UK and US.
This is a high-trust, high-exposure role working directly with the most senior finance executive in the company on a daily basis. The Financial Controller will be deeply embedded in decision-making, execution, and operational control, ensuring financial accuracy, discipline, and scalability as LemonEdge continues to grow.
This role is ideal for a high-calibre, hands-on controller who wants real ownership, breadth, and proximity to senior leadership in a scaling SaaS / FinTech environment.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Controls (UK & US)
- Own and maintain robust financial controls across UK and US entities
- Maintain general ledgers in Xero, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
- Ensure consistent application of accounting policies across jurisdictions (UK GAAP / US GAAP, as applicable)
- Produce monthly management accounts with variance analysis and clear commentary
- Support year-end statutory accounts, audits, and financial reviews in both regions
- Ensure balance sheet integrity with fully reconciled accounts at all times

Accounts Payable, Expenses & Payments
- Own end-to-end accounts payable across UK and US entities
- Manage expenses via Payhawk, ensuring policy compliance, approvals, and spend visibility
- Prepare and execute multi-currency payment runs
- Maintain strong approval controls, segregation of duties, and cash discipline

Payroll & People Finance (UK & US)
- Own UK payroll processing and coordinate US payroll with external providers
- Partner closely with HR on starters, leavers, benefits, equity changes, and compliance
- Reconcile payroll journals, taxes, pensions, benefits, and statutory deductions
- Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness across both regions

Revenue, Billing & Accounts Receivable
- Own customer invoicing across UK and US entities
- Own deferred revenue schedules, billing accuracy, and AR ageing
- Own revenue reporting and reconciliation in line with company policy
- Partner with Commercial and Delivery teams to resolve billing issues and discrepancies
- Ensure clean linkage between contracts, invoicing, revenue recognition, and cash collection

Controls, Compliance & Process Ownership
- Own and maintain strong financial controls across all finance operations
- Own UK VAT return filings, reconciliations, and submissions
- Own US sales tax filings, coordinating closely with external advisors
- Support audits, statutory filings, and regulatory requirements
- Document, standardise, and continuously improve finance processes to support scale

Systems & Tooling
- Act as a key operator for Xero, Payhawk, payroll systems, and related finance tools
- Partner with the Global Head of Finance on system improvements and automation
- Help standardise finance workflows and controls across regions

What We’re Looking For
Experience
- 7-10+ years’ experience in accounting / financial control roles
- Experience operating across multi-entity, UK & US environments
- Background in SaaS, FinTech, or high-growth technology companies strongly preferred
- Proven hands-on ownership of controls, billing, payroll coordination, and core finance operations

Technical Skills
- Xero experience (essential)
- Payhawk or similar expense management platform experience
- UK payroll experience essential; US payroll coordination strongly preferred
- Strong Excel capability, including:
- Multi-entity reconciliations
- Pivot tables and lookup formulas
- Cash flow and balance sheet analysis
- Audit-ready schedules and workpapers

Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified preferred
- Qualified by experience (QBE) candidates with strong SaaS / FinTech background will be considered
- Experience operating in multi-entity, UK & US environments highly valued

- Fully reconciled balance sheets at all times
- Zero payroll or compliance errors

- VAT and sales tax filings delivered accurately and on time
- High confidence in finance data across the leadership team
